Students’ needs are addressed through: 

· Access to courses in VCE, VCAL, VET, School Based Apprenticeships

· Individual assessment of communication needs

· Oral and signed support

· Speech and listening development

· Individual and small group teaching

· Links with outside deaf support services

· Training in the use of specialist equipment eg. FM, and soundfield system

· Innovative use of technology eg. iPads, video conferencing, specialist software to improve access to curriculum

· Close links with Australian Hearing to ensure listening devices are fully maintained

· 
Students are supported to actively participate in regular classes alongside hearing and deaf peers—the best of both worlds!

Staff:

Teachers of the Deaf and Communication Aides provide assistance to meet the needs of each student. Staff work with students in regular classrooms with individual follow-up in the Deaf Facility. They are dedicated to providing opportunities and support to enhance learning in a mainstream environment for their students. 

Communication:

Students are given the opportunity to learn using their chosen language, Signed or English, Auslan or oral, whilst the focus is in building their literacy skills and meeting the individual needs of the child, in consultation with the parents.

Resources:

Resources are available offering information to parents, teachers, students, community groups and the general public.

Financial support:

Access to courses in VCE, VCAL, VET, School Based Apprenticeships Financial support is available to students through the Ewing House Education Fund (conditions apply).
